When actress Lucy Lawless landed the role of Xena on an episode of Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, she had no clue she would become one of the biggest action heroines of her generation. The character was so successful that she immediately got an equally popular spin-off. Xena: Warrior Princess first aired in 1995, and it lasted for six glorious seasons. Lawless perfectly embodied this character, becoming a feminist icon and a role model for young girls.
After Xena ended, Lawless found it difficult to find new gigs. However, she eventually went on to star on the popular sci-fi series Battlestar Galactica and played Lucretia in the Spartacus Franchise. Meanwhile, Lawless showed off her comedic chops with the role of Diane Lewis-Swanson on Parks and Recreation.
