Colin Kaepernick – Personal Decisions

In 2016, Colin Kaepernick completely divided the football world by kneeling during the national anthem to protest police brutality and racial injustice. The 49ers allowed him to become a free agent the following year, and he remains unsigned to this day. While no one has confirmed it, many suspect that Kaepernick remains teamless because he kneeled.

So, how much money did Kaepernick lose to his decision? Well, before kneeling, he and the 49ers were working on a deal that would have allowed him to earn $126 million in salary and up to another $61 million in bonuses. While endorsements from brands like Nike have helped bring his current net worth $20 million, Kapernick almost certainly lost around $100 million given his kneeling.
