For those who might not know, John Arne Riis is a professional soccer player and one of the youngest athletes ever to go broke. In fact, things became so bad that his former agent, Einar Baardsen, dropped him! According to Riis, he went broke due to “poor management of his money” and bad investments from his manager.
Reportedly, Riis owned approximately 100,000 pounds in debt after going bankrupt, despite earning 50,000 pounds a week! So, in 2005, Baardsen stopped representing him due to lack of pay, and the two are still battling it out in the courts today. Hopefully, Riis can turn things around and return to his former glory!
