Bryan Trottier – Failed Ice Skate Rink
Bryan Trottier is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player who played 18 seasons in the NHL for the New York Islanders and Pittsburgh Penguins. Throughout his career, Trottier won four Stanley Cups with the Islanders, two with the Penguins, and one as an assistant coach with the Colorado Avalanche.
Overall, Trottier made $2.1 million, $4.6 million in today’s money, in career earnings. However, despite this, he actually filed for bankruptcy back in 1994, with assets of just $141,000 and a staggering $9.5 million in debt. His undoing was multiple failed real estate investments, a particular a costly ice-rink venture that folded. Today, Trottier has an estimated net worth of $1 million, though. Working his way back up!
