Not every celebrity investor goes in on a bar or alcohol. In 1995, legendary actor Kevin Costner decided to purchase Ocean Therapy Solutions, which specializes in oil spill technology, from the U.S. government. Apparently, Costner wanted to buy the company ever since he finished the film Waterworld.
While technology that purifies water during oil spills doesnât seem like the greatest investment opportunity, Costner has done quite well with Ocean Therapy! The company helped BPâs Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill back in 2010 with multiple purifying machines. In the end, the company charged BP over $52 million to clean it up. Thatâs quite the paycheck!
