Legendary actor Tom Hanks and actress-producer Rita Wilson first met on the set of the show Bosom Buddies, the highly improvised comedy where Hanks earned his start. Back then, the two became friends, and nothing more. That’s, of course, until their paths crossed again on the 1985 film Volunteers. Then, they began dating in 1986, tying the knot in 1988.
The couple has two children: Chester and Truman. What’s more, Hanks joined the Greek Orthodox church just before the wedding. Here’s a fun fact: Hanks’ joining the church became an inspiration for the famous baptism scene in My Big Fat Greek Wedding, which the couple produced. Recently, the couple, worth a combined $400 million, overcame COVID-19 disease together.
