Just ask Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, who first met in 1934, at the marriage of Princess Marina and Prince George. After a few flirtatious interactions, the two knew they were meant to be. Following a second meeting in 1937 and another in 1939, the two began exchanging love letters.
From there, the rest is history – famous history at that! Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip married in one of the largest weddings of all time at Westminster Abbey in 1947. Before the wedding, Philip had to renounce princedom, becoming the Duke of Edinburgh, Earl of Merionet, and Baron Greenwich instead – not a bad trade!
