“He didn’t stop swimming towards me until I was on top of his,” Hauser explained in an interview with NPR. But that was far from the end of the whale’s miraculous behavior! Once the marine biologist found herself on top of the whale head, it continued to nudge and nudge her. Through it all, there was very little for Hauser to do – she certainly wasn’t going to harm the humpback whale to get it away from here!
Even though Hauser knew she was in a dire situation, the marine biologist could not help but realize the irony of her predicament…
