As Rose looked really closely at the bug, she realized that it was actually the most annoying of bugs, the mosquito. Afterward, she carefully plucked the dried mosquito between her thumb and finger, not grazing the painted surface. At that moment, Rose felt like her heart started beating double-time.
“I took it out to the front yard and I opened it up to get the mosquito out so I could take it with me to college, and then it kind of scared me a little. I closed it back up immediately because it looked like it might be real,” she recalled on Antiques Roadshow. Upon opening it, Rose realized that the painting could in face be real!
