While Anna Kournikova became one of the highest-paid female tennis players ever, she actually wasn’t all that good, believe it or not. In fact, she rarely broke the top ten and never cracked the top five. However, Kournikova and her partner Martina Hingis did become number one in doubles, winning the Australian Open not once, but twice.
Still, even though Kournikova had limited success on the court, she did earn plenty of endorsements due to her picturesque figure. As a result, she retired at the age of 21 to focus on modeling and acting. Soon after, the tennis star appeared in Enrique Iglesias’ music video for his song “Escape.” At the time, Kournikova refused to confirm their relationship.
