Most famously, American businessman-investor Steve Ballmer served as the CEO of Microsoft, from 2000 until 2014. More recently, however, Ballmer has made some serious moves into the sports world, becoming the owner of NBA team the Los Angeles Clippers in 2014. Reportedly, Ballmer shelled out $2 billion for the team! Believe it or not, it’s only the second-highest bid for a sports franchise in American history, after the $2.15 billion sale of the L.A. Dodgers in 2012.
After Ballmer bought the Clippers, he barred the team from using Apple products, replacing them with Microsoft products. Currently, the Clippers owner is building the new Inglewood Basketball and Entertainment Center, which will become the team’s new arena. Today, Ballmer has an impressive net worth of $69 billion!
