After a year of sending letters back and forth, exchanging both happy and sad moments, Stuart stopped receiving letters from Fukue. While Stuart understood that they both had things in their lives to attend to, she could not help but wonder why Fukue had not said goodbye. After all, there had been no sign that Fukue had felt unhappy with Stuart or their letters.
As time went on, Stuart needed to continue on with her life. However, even as a teenager, Fukue was never far from her mind. So, when Stuart returned to Japan on a family trip, she tried to track down her old best friend. And, unfortunately, she did not find good news…
