The Sovereign Grant is meant to cover all of Queen’s expenses when fulfilling her official duties as a monarch. That, of course, include travel, property maintenance and entertaining. Furthermore, the Sovereign grant comes out to fifteen percent of the annual profit of the Crown Estate. Even further, the yearly amount to the Queen cannot decrease from the previous year, even in the Crown Estate fares poorly.
However, the arrangement hasn’t always been without snarls. In 2015, the grant came under review, mainly because Queen Elizabeth was making way too much money.
