Actress Isabelle Adjani grew up in France, where she learned to speak both German and French, since her parents were Algerian and German. Adjani started her acting career when she was only 12 years old, participating in amateur theater for fun. When the actress turned 19, she starred in the film Story of Adelle H, which launched her multi-decade-long career.
