As extreme as it might seem, the Royals even have rules about the style of their wedding cakes! Believe it or not, the cakes are prepared in secrecy on the morning of the Royal weddings. Nothing beats fresh, after all! William and Kate’s wedding cake was an eight-tier one made by Fiona Cairns. Their main cake was a fruitcake, as is tradition, with a second chocolate cake for those that didn’t like fruitcake. Each cost the couple $80,000!
Meanwhile, it was Claire Ptak who was in charge of making Harry and Meghan’s cake. Like the other wedding, they had two cakes: a fruitcake and a delicious lemon and elderflower cake. Ptak’s cakes each reportedly cost about $60,000.
