11. Beware: It’s Easy to Lose Your Locker

You can’t just buy a storage locker someone else owns, that’s called stealing. The units on Storage Wars are lockers that have gone into “default” meaning that someone stopped, or forgot about, paying. After a certain time, ownership of the unit, and its contents, reverts to the storage facility.
Still, while its always the fault of the renter if they lose ownership of their storage unit, it’s easy to lose one than you might think! Most states only require a facility manager to contact you a few times after the first missed payment before they can auction everything off. In fact, the average time between the renter missing a payment and an auction occurring is only 90 days!
