Two Brothers From Michigan Finally Find Oak Island Treasure
For years, the Oak Island treasure remained undiscovered and even cursed! But now two brothers from Michigan have solved the island’s biggest mysteries…
William Chappell
Last to find something on Oak Island before the Michigan brothers was famous researcher William Chappell. In 1931, Chappell journeyed to Canada after becoming obsessed with stories about Oak Island. On the island, Chappell and his hired crew decided to dig even deeper than the Onslow Company. And it paid off!
127 feet down, nearly 40 feet past where the Onslow Company had dug into the Money Pit, Chappell uncovered several intriguing artifacts. First, he found a host of proof that humans had been even this deep before: an oil lamp and a pick, later identified as a Cornish miner’s pick. However, the artifact that left the biggest impression on historians was the Acadian ax Chappell found. Most experts say it’s at least 250 years old! What else could the Money Pit possibly hold?
