These days, when Allison Stokke looks back on everything that’s happened to her, she’s able to have a bit more perspective. When interviewed by ESPN she says that to a degree, she felt flattered by the attention, but that it at the same time overwhelmed her. “At Cal, I wrote about it once for a Sociology class. We were supposed to write about some deep thing that affected you emotionally, and then you had the option to share, or not share and delete it. And I didn’t share it. I deleted it. I wish I still had that somewhere, because I think it would be very different now.” she said.
Stokke stresses that it is important for her to be in control of her own story. And that’s something we can all take from this incredible pole vaulter!
