A Single Photo Turned This Young Pole Vaulter’s Life Upside Down
When a photographer snapped a picture of young pole vaulter Allison Stokke, they had no idea the image would go on to turn her entire life upside down…
More Challenges In The Aftermath
Immediately, an ambulance rushed Stokke to the hospital, testing to see the extent of the damage. The results came back disastrous. Both her tibia and right ankle had broken, requiring surgery. While the surgery went well, the accident would leave her in bed for some time. It also crushed the young pole vaulter’s spirits, as she felt her dreams crushed.
The doctors told Stokke she had a long recovery road ahead of her. Six months, at least. Although she could not help but feel depressed sometimes, Sokke always tried her best to see her recovery in a more positive way. She could have suffered more severe injuries, Stokke told her self. This newfound perspective would be even more critical during the next part of her long journey.
