For those not in the know, actor David Leisure is better known for playing the fictional pitchman, Joe Isuzu, in Isuzu’s North America commercials from 1986 to 1990. Portraying a stereotypical sleazy car salesman, he promoted the car brand through a humorous combination of lies and hyperbole, quickly becoming a fan favorite. In fact, fans missed Leisure’s character so much that the car company brought him back for a series of commercials from 1999 to 2001.
Besides his successful commercials, Leisure has had a very stable career throughout the years. He’s starred in everything from big-budget movies, like Airplane!, to sitcoms like Golden Girls.
