That’s right, Psychic Miss Cleo didn’t make a dime for starring in all those ’90s commercials for her psychic hotline. After all, she paid for the ads herself! The “Jamaican psychic,” whose real name is Youree Dell Harris, was, believe it or not, neither Jamaican nor a psychic. But she did an incredible job making viewers think she was! During the infomercial, Miss Celo performed live phone readings from her pay-per-minute line. But hey, the first three minutes were free!
However, before long, Miss Cleo became a subject of lots of lawsuits. As a result, police indicted her and the other owners of the Psychic Readers Network for deceptive advertising, billing, and collection practices.
