24. No Credit Card Debt

Unfortunately, the amount of credit card debt in America continues to rise each day. In fact, The Federal Reserve estimates that the country has reached over $1.04 trillion in credit card debt! However, in the Amish community, the amount of credit card debt is basically zero.

Throughout their history, the Amish community has proved to be much wiser and more careful when using credit cards. Most importantly, the Amish view is as wrong to owe anyone money, especially the banks. In an interview, Craker explains, “They’re big on big down payments and being in as little debt as possible.” While some members of the communities do have credit cards, they prefer to use them only when it’s absolutely necessary.”
