7. A Cheap Honeymoon

Not only do Amish not spend much on the wedding, but they also have cheap honeymoons. While most newlyweds choose a luxury destination for their honeymoon, Amish actually spend theirs in their parents’ house! That’s right. Admittedly, for an outsider, this wouldn’t be particularly romantic. However, while the wedding night is usually a big night for all newlyweds, clearly privacy is not that important!
The honeymoon begins at the bride’s family home. Then the next morning, the couple cleans the house as a way to thank the family. Then, the newlywed couple spends the rest of their honeymoon visiting each other’s relatives as husband and wife. And finally, if they don’t have a place of their own, they will return to the wife’s family home until they can afford a place.
