Johnny Unitas – Poor Spending Habits
Johnny Unitas, also known as “The Golden Arm,” was an American football player who played for the former Baltimore Colts. While on the Colts, he earned the NFL MVP title in ’59, ’64, and ’67. Not only that, but Unitas also held the record for most consecutive games with a touchdown pass for 52 years. While he made quite a big fortune from his remarkable career, Unitas too ended up broke.
Back in 1991, Unitas filed for bankruptcy, and he and his wife also filed for protection against creditors. Unfortunately, Unitas reportedly had a $3.2 million debt and was having to work with banks and creditors to try to settle his debt. However, in the end, he wound up broke and in financial ruin.
