Reportedly earning $37,499 a week at the height of his career, former premier league footballer Lee Hendrie officially went broke after racking up debts of over $200,000. The former England midfield star failed to pay his debts, resulting in the police coming to his front door!
At that moment, Hendrie knew that his home and the home he bought for his house would be repossessed. “The football was almost over and my head was gone. I’d been trying to sell property but the housing market crashed. I got to the stage where I just wanted to end it all. I’d hit rock bottom,” he recently recalled. “But it’s hard to explain when you can’t reach out to someone. I was a closed book.”
