Rollie Fingers – Poor Spending Habits

Rollie Fingers played pro baseball for the Milwaukee Brewers and then the San Diego Padres during the 1970s. However, in 1978, after leaving the MLB, Fingers filed for bankruptcy, reportedly in desperate need of cash to afford rent and buy food for his four children. Apparently, Fingers had involved himself in serious business scams that caused him to lose $1.1 million!
Still, Fingers can’t say that he was utterly scammed, he made plenty of bad decisions himself. While on the Padres, he bought an entire line of Arabian horses. Unsurprisingly, Fingers had to sell them for $5,000 each to help pay off the debt he owed.
