William āThe Refrigeratorā Perry might be one of the most memorable NFL players of all time. After all, who could forget the way he bulked over his opponents, easily tackling them, hence his nickname. As a strong defensive tackle for the Chicago Bears in the 1980s, Perry made piles of cash from contracts and endorsement deals. Unfortunately, as the saying goes, all good things must come to an end.
You see, Perry became diabetic and developed Guillain-Barre Syndrome, as well as got into some trouble with the IRS. Unfortunately, it seems he could not pay his medical bills and then accumulated a mountain of debt. By 2011, Perry had sold almost everything, including his 1985 Super Bowl ring. Ouch!
