These Box Office Bombs Cost Actors Their Careers
Usually, companies like Universal and Disney make millions, but not always! These movies, including stars like Reese Witherspoon and Bruce Wills, were flops!
Inchon (1982), Laurence Olivier and Jacqueline Bisset – $106 Million Lost, Adjusted
Inchon could have been one of the greatest movies ever made. It is an epic war film, set during the Korean War and starring some of the greatest actors of all time, including Laurence Olivier and Jacqueline Bisset. Instead, it became one of the biggest box office bombs of all time.
Problems, including a typhoon and death of a crew member, plagued Inchon from the start and caused costs to skyrocket. Moreover, while the film had a great cast, that’s all it had. Upon release, critics lambasted the film calling it inaccurate and offensive. New York Times critic Vincent Canby probably put it best, calling it “the most expensive B-movie ever made.” After just a few weeks, and a box office take of less than $2 million, Warner Bros. yanked the film from theaters. Furthermore, the studio has never released it on VHS, DVD, Blu-Ray, or Video-On-Demand!
