These Box Office Bombs Cost Actors Their Careers

Usually, companies like Universal and Disney make millions, but not always! These movies, including stars like Reese Witherspoon and Bruce Wills, were flops!

Fantastic Four (2015), Michael B. Jordan, and Kate Mara – $106 Million Lost

20th Century Fox

It’s no surprise that, given Marvel’s success, production companies look at whatever superhero property they can. So, even though another Fantastic Four movie debuted in 2005, 20th Century Fox decided to reboot the series in 2015. Once again, the film told the origin story of a group of scientists gaining powers after they are exposed to cosmic rays. This time around, Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara, and Jamie Bell played the famous group of heroes.

20th Century Fox thought they had a hit on their hand with a young cast and dark take on classic characters. Then, it came out, and the unthinkable happened: Fantastic Four received a 9% on Rotten Tomatoes. Viewers stayed away, and it lost $106 million against a $155 million production budget. Don’t expect Disney to retake this risk any time soon, now that they own Fox.
