Often times, these failed restaurant chains start as a competitor of another. One such chain, Minnie Pearl’s Chicken, was a line of fast food eateries designed to compete with KFC. In the late ’60s, businessman John Jay Hooker convinced famous country singer Minnie Pearl to let him use her name, thinking it would guarantee success. And he was right – at least at first.
