2. Official All-Star Café
In the ’90s, themed restaurants became all the rage. So, businessman Robert Earl, owner of Planet Hollywood, figured that a sports-themed restaurant chain would achieve the same success. Like Planet Hollywood, Earl convinced many sports icons of the era to invest in the company, including Joe Montana, Ken Griffey Jr, Andre Agassi, among others.
In its prime, the restaurant chain opened in 10 locations, including Times Square and Walt Disney World. While Official All-Star Café tried to capitalize on the success of restaurant chains like Hard Rock Café and Planet Hollywood, it did not last long. The last location shut down in 2007, less than two decades after opening.
