4. Anchorage, Alaska
Given its remoteness, it likely comes as no surprise that Alaska has actually been dropping in population for a while. Even though the state government has been offering incentives to move there, Americans don’t seem too eager to take the bait.
According to the most recent statistics, roughly 300 people move out of Anchorage, Alaska, every single year, and that’s just the beginning. Local Anchorage news station KTUU also reported in early 2019 that 18 of the state’s 29 boroughs and census areas had declined in population. Hey, maybe it’s Alaska’s harsh weather that’s driving people to hit the roads!
