The more researchers look into Denny and the caves of the Altai Mountains in Siberia, the more we understand how ancient archaic humans lived their lives. It seems that the caves not only functioned as churches and places to live, but they might have also functioned as some of the earliest meeting places.
In fact, David Reich thinks the caves might have filled the same function as malls and nightclubs. “They were the singles bars of the Pleistocene Eurasia,” he told National Geographic. Meanwhile, more genetic research has shown us that the Denisovans did not just mingle and live in high-altitude caves. In fact, they might have been traveled all over the world!
