The Onslow Company arrived on the island in the early 19th century to determine the truth of the three teenagers’ local legend. The Company hoped they would find pirate treasure or something along those lines. When they arrived, they found a depression on the island, right here the boys described! Soon, they started digging and uncovered some pretty incredible things!
First, the Company men quickly realized some had dug a hole there long before the teenagers had. That certainly explained the depression they found! Next, the diggers broke into an old, clearly man-made shaft. Even stranger, it featured wooden platforms every 10 feet, down to the 90-foot level of the hole!
