Those “ooga-chaka ooga-ooga ooga-chaka” s at the beginning are the definition of the word “earworm.” What most people don’t know is that Swedish band Blue Swede did not write the song. It’s actually a cover of B.J. Thomas’ 1968 original – that’s right!
While Blue Swede never found another hit, “Hooked on a Feeling” remains a radio favorite. The song also earned a second life when it appeared in the Marvel hit film Guardians of the Galaxy.
