Believe it or not, Aqua is the most successful Danish band of all time, with a whopping 33 million albums and singles sold. Still, in the United States, the band is only known for one song and one song only: “Barbie Girl.” The bubblegum pop song rose to number one in both Britain and Australia and climbed to number seven in the U.S.
Afterward, the group did some interesting projects, including writing music for the 1998 film Sliding Doors and performing on Eurovision. However, the song also earned them a lawsuit from the Mattel toy company. Talk about a journey!
