“Always Something There to Remind Me” by Naked Eyes (1983)

Rolling Stone

Here’s a little fact you probably don’t know: Naked Eyes’ ’83 hit “Always Something There to Remind Me” is actually a cover. That’s right! It was initially released in the ’60s by artists like Sandie Shaw and Lou Johnson. However, no singer could make the song work – until synthpop group Naked Eyes came along, that is. Their cover of the song, complete with catchy snaps and warm synths, shot to the top ten on the Billboard Hot 100.

While Naked Eyes earned another, minor hit the same year, “Promises, Promises,” they failed ever to chart big again. Still, they continue to tour today, keep the dream alive!
