The Verve is another of the British bands who have done well in their home country, but have become one hit wonders here in the United States. That one hit was “Bitter Sweet Symphony,” which has since been used in tons of weddings since its release and also earned covers from the likes of Beyoncé and Limp Bizkit.
For those who don’t know, the strings riff is actually a sample of the Rolling Stones’ song “The Last Time.” The sample led to a credits dispute between the Verve and the Rolling Stones – but that didn’t stop “Bitter Sweet Symphony” from becoming one of the biggest one hit wonders ever!
