Unlike some other bands, Wheatus has never minded that they became a one hit wonder. When “Teenage Dirtbag” soared to number one in many countries, including the United States, Australia, and the United Kingdom, the band thought it was the start of something huge. But, while Wheatus continues to perform today, they’ve never had another song gain mainstream success. Still, lead singer Brendan B. Brown doesn’t mind!
“Every teenager has to go through that ‘being an outsider’ thing, at least a little bit. So that story is still the same for people, even if it’s 30 years after I went through it,” Brown said in a recent interview.
