She Thought They Were Best Friends and Pen Pals — Then The Letters Stopped Coming
As a Canadian girl in Japan, Jessica Stuart made friends with another girl, Fukue. And when Fukue vanished, Stuart knew that she needed to look for her friend!

While trying to find Fukue, Stuart tried some rather old-school techniques to hunt down her former best friend. First, she tried putting ads in Japanese newspapers and magazines, asking for anyone that knew Fukue to contact her. While these provided a few bits of information, nothing helped Stuart get any closer to her long-lost friend.
Next, Stuart contacted the principal at the last school Fukue had attended. While the musician says that the school was accommodating, they did not have any records pertaining to Fukue’s whereabouts. Her search had been largely devoid of information. The only thing Stuart had managed to find out was that Fukue had last been seen in the city of Saku. And she wasn’t even sure if that was true! Out of options and ideas, Stuart conceded: it was time to bring in some professionals.
