As the world has become more and more connected, it has become less common for families to need to move across the globe for a job. However, back in the ’80s, that wasn’t the case. So, when Stuart’s mother needed to move to Japan for her career, the whole family needed to go with her!

In Japan, a nine-year-old Stuart found herself alone and without many friends in elementary school.
