One of the most unforgettable female characters on Law & Order, S. Epatha Merkerson played the iconic Lieutenant Anita Van Buren for almost 400 episodes!
But she certainly didn’t stop acting after the show ended. In 2012, she played an important character in the movie Lincoln and appeared as the head of the hospital team on the series Chicago Med. Merkerson is also known for using her platform for various causes and charities. Recently, she became a spokesperson for Merck America’s Diabetes Challenge to increase awareness for people with Type 2 diabetes.
