The team behind the 2004 classic Saw kept budgets down by shooting in primarily one location and getting everything they needed in just a few days. In fact, the shoot came in under budget, at just $1.2 million. Afterward, in the cinemas, Saw made a whopping $103 million and also launched one of the most successful franchises in film history.
Currently, there are eight Saw films, a video game, and an amusement park ride in the series. In total, the films have made nearly a billion dollars, against a combined budget of just $77 million! The most expensive film, Saw 3D at $20 million, still made more than five times it’s budget back worldwide!
