This particular rule may seem rather strange, given the amount of loving, caring fans the royal family enjoys. However, Meghan Markle, Kate Middleton, nor any other family members are allowed to sign autographs. Well, they can, but only with Queen Elizabeth’s explicit permission. By rules of the Crown, no member of the royal family is allowed to sign any document without the Queen’s consent, unless official royal business.
And we mean anything! Not even greeting cards to one another during the holidays! However, there’s a good explanation for it. The reason for this rule is that the royals fear forgery! Also, they want to discourage people from trying to make a profit from their autographs. It all makes sense now, right?
