Of course, everyone remembers George Lucas best for creating both the Star War and Indiana Jones franchises. Not only that, but he also founded Industrial Light & Magic and co-founded Pixar! However, before he became a cultural icon, Lucas had to struggle through several failures. Back in 1971, Lucas wrote and directed THX 1138, which was a critical success but a terrible financial failure.
Thankfully, Lucas’ next film, American Graffiti, earned him five Academy Awards nominations, including Best Picture. From there, the rest was history! Today, Lucas is one of the most financially successful filmmakers in history, with a staggering net worth of $5 billion.
