The state if Michigan offers its residents glorious national parks and nearly 3,300 miles of coastline to explore. However, in recent years, nature lovers are opting to pitch their tents someplace other than the state.

While Michigan offers plenty of job opportunities in computers, math, management, and food preparation, many pay under 20,000 per year. What’s more, Michigan currently ranks as No. 7 state for “brain drain,” which means that younger, highly educated workers are leaving the Wolverine State in search of higher-paying job opportunities. In fact, about half the people moving out said that their main reason was jobs!
