The States Americans Don’t Want To Live In Anymore (And Where They’re Moving To!)
See which states in the US people are moving out of most and why they’re leaving: from jobs to retirement!
25. Rhode Island
America’s smallest state by area has faced tons of problems keeping residents within its 1,200 square miles over the past few years. According to moving company United Van Lines, the reason most people leave Rhode Island is to seek a higher paying job. As a result, hiring has grown in the Ocean State by 1.5% over the last year, to try and keep people in the state.
Many Rhode Islanders claim that good jobs can be hard to find most of the time, and unfortunately, you can’t stay there unless you find one. “I love R.I., but it’s expensive,” said one Reddit commenter. “Taxes are high and cost of living is high — make sure you have a job prior to moving.” Last year, nearly half of all moves in the state were to move out of the state (as opposed to moving into the sate, or moving within the state).
