In the sixth season season of The Curse of Oak Island, the Lagina brothers started excavating Smith’s Cove in earnest. And, after closing the excavated area off using an elaborate steel structure, the duo has made some fascinating discoveries at last. Under the mud, the brothers began to unearth a strange, U-shaped structure!
After going through the rubble with metal detectors, they discovered something they’ve been waiting for decades: a gold-colored coin. While the coin needs to be properly examined, from introductory microscopy, it seems it dates back to the early 1700s. While we don’t know if this is part of the treasure, it’s a significant step in the right direction!
