When Stokke awoke to see what people were saying about her online, she felt appalled by the attention she received. She wanted people to adore her for her talents, not how they felt about how she looked. The young pole vaulter had no desire to become objectified by various internet groups and blogs. The event caused Stokke to fall into a dark place mentally, just had she was starting to recover from her injuries.
At first, the original photographer threatened Ufford with a lawsuit, for not legally licensing the photo. It seemed a solution had presented itself! Sadly, the damage had been done, and the case never went through. Thankfully, Stokke had some supporters on her side.
