Remember little Mickey, the petulant kid from the 1972 Life Cereal commercial whose siblings convince him to try it, only to seem amazed that “He Likes It?” Well, Mickey was portrayed by John Gilchrist. Believe it or not, his brothers in the commercials are actually Gilchrist’s real brothers, Tommy and Michael!
The ad became a complete hit after, with TV Guide ranking it as the “Greatest Commercial of All-Time” in 1999. In fact, it became so popular that an urban legend started that Gilchrist had died after filming it, thanks to mixing Pop Rocks and Coke. Well, we have good news: Gilchrist is alive and well, and even still answers some fan mail!
